It's Glazier Atlanta week. I can't wait to see some old friends and meet some new ones! I am sure we will be discussing the most important topics facing our profession all weekend. There will be echos, there will be disagreements, and there will be fellowship. It's always a good time.

This past week, we were attacked by an administration as a profession. This was not shocking to me in the least. I apologize for taking the bait and actually responding. Never argue with an idiot. He will lower you to his level and beat you with experience! I will say, as I always do, the overwhelming amount of ignorance that the generally public has never ceases to amaze me. Tax dollars (unless SPLOST) don't, DO NOT fund athletics. SPLOST DOES pay for facilities if denoted prior to. The actual funding of high school athletics, the equipment, the uniforms, the paying of officials, field up-keep, etc, does not come from millage rates. If it does, there are some people that have a lot of explaining to do!

It was also reported that we make sooooo much money as coaches, that we sorry up everywhere else in our job description that falls outside of coaching. That was enlightening to me. If you were to take your salary, figure out your hourly rate as it pertains to said salary, then apply that to the hours you put into coaching, If you make that, I will...well let's just say I will give you a week to draw a crowd to watch. Again, this is what people "think" we do and how we are compensated. I am not shocked at the level of ignorance that exists.

Bottom line is this: there is a reason some places never get better. It generally has to do with players and their ability. More than likely, it is leadership or lack thereof. Regardless of where you are, keep the kids first, be their person, and keep fighting the good fight!

Make sure you tune in this week on SunCoaches Podcast as Thursday I talk with Coach Shane Lasseter of Heard County High School. Next week, FiredFootballCoaches executive director Ed Gaffca and I chat on Tuesday and Jackson County Coach Kory Mobbs on Thursday.
